I direct and produce projects of various shapes and sizes, from online ads to some bigger film and documentary productions. Currently, I have a few film projects in development and run a handful of commercial productions for companies in Silicon Valley.
My film work is run through the production company Speculative Films, where I’ve made the transition to long-form filmmaking with a series of documentary and narrative short films — like YOUTH (18m, 2016) — that have won their share of jury awards, played at more than 100 film festivals, including Cannes, and were commissioned and featured by The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Vice, Wired, and National Geographic, to name a few. Currently, I’m in-development on THE FUTURISTS a science docu-series with actress Daisy Ridley (Star Wars); in pre-production on a feature-film version of YOUTH; and in post-production on a feature documentary, TOWN SQUARE.
Before advertising – where I have directed over 75 pieces for over 50 companies – I got my start as a documentary film editor. A few commercial clients include Box, Evernote, Salesforce, Marketo, and AT&T.
In previous lives, I studied ceramic sculpture at UC Berkeley and drove a rusty old Buick over 22,500 miles from San Francisco to the southern tip of South America. Every four years, I work as a photojournalist on the campaign trail during presidential elections. In 2008, I worked with Nate Silver for FiveThirtyEight (later acquired by The New York Times and then ESPN) and TalkingPointsMemo in 2012. You can see a few of my favorites from that collection here.
I live and work in San Francisco, California.
