Five days after I graduated from UC Berkeley, I packed a cheap DSLR camera and a few essentials into my rusty '95 Buick Regal and headed south with a couple buddies. We thought the car would make it to Mexico City. It was a tall order.
But, she never died. We made it all the way to the end of the road: the bottom tip of Tierra del Fuego in Patagonia. And then back up to Rio de Janeiro.
After about 22,500 miles and three quarters of a year, I had taught myself to use a camera. These photos are a little rough around the edges, but I'll never forget the adventure behind them.
